This past weekend PBMTI was invited to co-lead a music therapy session for children with Williams Syndrome and their families.  Having never met a child with Williams Syndrome before, I was not sure what to expect.  In my five years of conducting music therapy groups, I don’t think I have ever been met with such a level of pure enthusiasm and love of music.  It warmed my heart to see the smiles and laughter of each child as they played their instruments, led the drum circle and engaged in a brief song writing activity.  The only people happier than the children were their proud parents with video cameras in hand to capture the joy.  A BIG thank you to the Williams Syndrome Association for including music therapy in their celebration and to our friend, Julie Novak, MT-BC, for inviting us to help lead the session.  I sincerely hope we have a chance to work with these special children in the future; their ability for and love of music is a very beautiful thing-take a look for yourself!
